Egypt's Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced on Sunday that the country's annual headline inflation rate registered 12.1 percent in March, compared to 4.8 percent in the same period last year.
Egypt's inflation accelerated amid the global inflationary wave that was first triggered by the Omicron wave of the pandemic and now the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
According to Egypt's Al-Ahram newspaper, the increase in the annual headline inflation rate was mainly driven by the significant hike in food and beverage prices.
