Some off-road enthusiasts have successfully crossed the desert in this April. They departed from Yuli County in Xinjiang and completed a journey of 1,850 km in 18 days. The Taklamakan Desert is known as the "sea of death." Its name means "go in and you won't come out" in Uygur. Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Urumqi, China. (XHTV)
