Five kittens have been born to a pair of ultra-rare sand cats at the Ramat Gan Safari Park in central Israeli city of Ramat Gan.
Sand cats are an endangered species worldwide, believed with only 10,000 left in the wild and another 178 in zoos. Also called sand dune cats, these felines are native to the Middle East, Central Asia and Northern Africa. Accustomed to desert life, they can go months without drinking in the sand.
The parents were the only sand cats in Israel.
