STORYLINE:
The mountain hawk-eagle, a second-class national protected animal, has been spotted for the first time in Jiuzhaigou Nature Reserve in southwest China's Sichuan Province by an infrared camera.
Jiuzhaigou, or Jiuzhai Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famed for its spectacular waterfalls, lush forests, serene plateau lakes and karst rock formations in the mountainous areas.
Mountain hawk-eagles mostly live in the mountainous forest area of different altitudes, up to 4,000 meters above sea level.
In the same habitat, golden snub-nosed monkeys, black bears, and black woodpeckers are also recorded.
