The ban will be in place until the end of October. Last week, the government decided to put a cap on the export of sugar to ensure domestic availability. "Export of sugar (raw, refined and white sugar) is placed under restricted category from June 1, 2022, onwards," said a notification issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) last week. However, the notification said with effect from June 1 until Oct. 31, or until further orders, the export of sugar will be allowed with specific permission.
