STORYLINE:
Myanmar has been vaccinating children aged five to 12 years old at basic education schools across the country since June 2, state-run television channel MRTV reported.
In the capital city of Nay Pyi Taw, 109,682 school children aged 5 and 12 from 842 schools are getting vaccinated against COVID-19.
Myanmar's COVID-19 tally rose to 613,427 on Friday, as 12 new cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours, showed the health ministry's latest data. The total number of recovered people in the country rose to 592,401 on Friday.
Myanmar detected its first COVID-19 cases in March 2020.
