Inflation in France reached 5.2 percent year on year in May, the highest level in 37 years.
Meanwhile, the basic monthly salary index only increased by 2.3 percent from last year, according to the French Ministry of Labor.
Food prices rose by 4.2 percent (3.8 percent last month) and those of services by 3.2 percent.
