The park was a former industrial base of Wuhan Iron and Steel Corporation (WISCO). The No. 1 blast furnace of WISCO started construction on July 1, 1957 and was put into production on Sept. 13, 1958. In 2021, the no longer used No. 1 blast furnace was selected as a national industrial heritage. WISCO has invested 80 million yuan (about 11.96 million U.S. dollars) to turn it into an industrial heritage park on the original site according to the standard of the national 4A-level scenic spot.
