SOUNDBITE (Chinese): ZHANG HONG, Senior engineer of the Rescue Center of Naked Carp STORYLINE: A fish rescue center in northwest China's Qinghai Lake is collecting eggs of naked carp from a local river in a bid to increase the incubation rate of the fish species endemic to the largest saline and inland lake in China. The population of the naked carp, known as "Huangyu" in China, once declined sharply due to overfishing. To protect the species and restore the environment, a rescue center for naked carp was established in 2003. Since June this year, staff of the rescue center have been collecting eggs of naked carp in Quanji River, where the fish swims upstream. According to the center's plan, 20 million naked carps will be incubated this year and will be released into Qinghai Lake next year. SOUNDBITE (Chinese): ZHANG
