STORYLINE:
As inflation continues to rise in Spain, the government has announced a new anti-crisis measure that will see the cost of public transport reduced by up to 50 percent.
From Sept. 1 to Dec. 31, the discount will apply to monthly travel cards and any type of pass of state transport companies, such as the rail operator Renfe.
The Spanish government says the other aim of the measure is to encourage more people to take public transport.
