U.S.-TEXAS-HEAT WAVE-POWER USE

(220713) -- HOUSTON, July 13, 2022 (Xinhua) -- The sun sets behind power transmission lines in Texas, the United States on July 11, 2022. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) on Monday asked residents and businesses to reduce their power use as the heat index exceeded 100 degrees Fahrenheit in about half of the south central U.S. state. This heat wave began more than a week ago and is still going strong, challenging the state's power grid. The near-record temperatures in much of Texas have forced various outdoor events to be either delayed or canceled over safety concerns. (Photo by Nick Wagner/Xinhua)
