Early in August, Egyptian Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali al-Moselhy said the strategic reserve of wheat can cover domestic consumption for 7.2 months. Moselhy said that the ministry succeeded in getting 2.7 million tonnes of wheat from different countries during the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, including France, Romania, and Bulgaria. In recent years, Egypt has imported nearly 80 percent of its grain from Russia and Ukraine through the Black Sea due to its high quality and competitive prices. Annually, Egypt spends tens of billions of pounds to secure nearly 20 million tonnes of local and imported wheat,
