STORYLINE:
Spain's tourism industry is recovering as activities in the sector this summer have returned to pre-pandemic levels.
The World Hotel Index report by SiteMinder found that Spain is leading the recovery of tourism in Europe, with hotel reservations at 106% of pre-pandemic figures.
According to Spain's National Institute of Statistics, 30 million foreign tourists visited Spain in the first half of 2022, compared to just 5 million in the same period last year, and close to 38 million in 2019 before the pandemic began.
