"Health officials in the U.S. southern state of Texas have confirmed the death of a person diagnosed with monkeypox, the first of its kind publicly reported by authorities in the United States. If monkeypox is confirmed as the cause, it will be the first confirmed death from the virus in this country. However, the authorities said it was too early to say how monkeypox was connected to the death. The adult patient was 'severely immunocompromised,' had 'various severe illnesses,' and died in a hospital in Harris County on August 28.
