The rice variety, developed by a team of agricultural experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, can grow to 1.8 meters to 2.2 meters tall. It is cultivated to be high-yielding, drought-tolerant, and resistant to disease and waterlogging. The rice variety is planted on 4,000 mu (about 267 hectares) of land by a local agricultural cooperative.
