Kumari Pooja in Nepal

A Nepali Hindu girl donned as Living Goddess Kumari sleeps on the lap of her mother Basantapur Durbar Sqaure while taking part in the Kumari Pooja in capital Kathmandu. Girls running in their pre-pubescent period under go the procession which is believed to ward off the evils and protect the girls. It is a annual procession which takes place in front of Taleju Bhawani Temple attended by hundreds of girls.
