STORYLINE:
Spanish scientists have discovered the genetic secrets of "immortal" jellyfish and opened a door to anti-aging research.
After five years of study on Turritopsis dohrnii, which can revert to its larval form at will, researchers from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Oviedo in Spain sequenced the jellyfish's genome and identified variations that make it better at copying and repairing DNA, which provides it with its rejuvenation abilities.
