STORYLINE:
More than 38,000 idols of the Hindu god Ganesh were immersed in water across Mumbai, India till Saturday morning, following the conclusion of the 10-day-long Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
The festival ended on Friday in India.
Every year, the idols are carried in public processions with music and group chanting, then immersed in a nearby body of water such as a river or sea, on the 14th day of the lunar fortnight.
The elephant-headed god is traditionally worshipped in India before any major enterprise and is patronized across the Hindu religious society.
