The explosive Mosquito Fire burning in the foothills east of Sacramento, capital city of the western U.S. state of California, grew to over 33,700 acres as of Saturday evening with zero percent of containment.
California Governor Gavin Newsom on Sept. 8 declared a state of emergency for El Dorado and Placer counties due to the Mosquito Fire.
Some 1,700 personnel were assigned to the huge wildfire, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire).
