Among members of the EU, Hungary saw the highest increase in the average bread price in August, up by 66 percent, while France saw the lowest increase at 8 percent. According to Eurostat, the average price of bread rose 3 percent year on year in August 2021. Russia and Ukraine are both major exporters of grains and fertilizers.
