More than 1,100 cotton-picking machines have been put into operation to harvest the 5,000 square kilometers of cotton fields this year. High-efficient mechanized harvesting shortens the cotton picking period in Aksu by about 10 days. Xinjiang is the largest cotton-growing area in China.
