The UN General Assembly on Tuesday elected 14 states into the Human Rights Council to succeed outgoing members.

"The following 14 states have been elected members of the Human Rights Council for the three-year term of the office beginning of Jan. 1, 2023: Algeria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Chile, Costa Rica, Georgia, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Morocco, Romania, South Africa, Sudan, and Vietnam."
Of the 14 states, Sudan and Germany were elected for a consecutive second term.
