The first hypothesis of contamination for the Vendee farm would be an introduction of the virus via contaminated wild birds. At the national level, more than 330,000 poultry have been slaughtered since Aug. 1 in French farms. As of Friday, 24 outbreaks on farms had been confirmed. Many cases were reported in northwestern France. The virus returns with the drop in temperatures. Autumn is also the beginning of the bird migration period which makes it risky.
