Surfing Santas, which has been a hit for some time in places like Cocoa Beach, the United States, and Bondi Beach, Australia, is relatively new in Europe. Surfing Santas was first held in 2009 on Cocoa Beach, the U.S. state of Florida. Since then, the event has become an annual international festival, where participants dress up as Santa Claus and surf while spectators watch from the beach.
