Timmer sets new world mark en route

Dutch speed skater Marianne Timmer shows total concentration on her way to gold in the Olympic 1,500-meters on Feb. 16 at Nagano's M-Wave indoor track. Timmer smashed the world record with a phenomenal time of 1 minute, 57.58 seconds, 0.29 second faster than the old mark set by Canada's Catriona LeMay Doan in Calgary only last November.
