Kim Dae Jung abduction to be made into movie in Japan

Young N. Korean artists rehearse for performances in Seoul

SEOUL, South Korea - Members of the Pyongyang School Children Art Troupe rehearse in a Seoul theater May 26 for a series of music and traditional dance performances the group will stage. The troupe arrived in Seoul on May 24 to perform as part of celebrations in connection with the scheduled June 12-14 summit in Pyongyang between South Korean President Kim Dae Jung and North Korean leader Kim Jong Il.

Book to be published by Kim Dae Jung's wife

SENDAI, Japan - Lee Hee Hoo, wife of South Korean President Kim Dae Jung, will publish a Japanese edition of a book she wrote, which is a collection of her letters around 1980 to Kim, then an imprisoned dissident. The photo shows the Japanese edition (R) and the original Korean edition (L). The book's Japanese title translates as ''Beyond a Thorny Path -- Letters of Prayer to My Husband.''

The award-winning Japanese movie ''HANA-BI'' goes on release in South Korea on Dec. 5, marking the country's first public screening of a Japanese film -- made in Japan with Japanese capital by a Japanese director. The public viewing of Japanese movies is part of President Kim Dae Jung's gradual removal of a long-standing ban on Japanese films, music and other forms of culture.
