Aoki named acting premier
TOKYO, Japan - Chief Cabinet Secretary Mikio Aoki tells reporters April 3 that the government has appointed him acting premier following Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi's sudden hospitalization April 2 due to a stroke. The hospitalization of the 62-year-old Obuchi at Juntendo University Hospital in Tokyo is likely to be prolonged, Aoki said.
