Tokyo stocks close mixed, Nikkei ends below 19,000

TOKYO, Japan - Tokyo Stock Exchange officials watch the screen as the TSE benchmark 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average falls below 19,000 for the first time in 12 weeks. The broader Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX) of all First Section issues, however, turned upward for the first time in four trading days.
