Dutch, Japanese reenact Edo Period procession in Nagasaki

NAGASAKI, Japan - A group of 250 Dutch and Japanese reenact an Edo Period procession in Nagasaki on April 19 as part of events marking the 400th anniversary of relations between Japan and the Netherlands. In 1844, the Dutch mission, which at that time stayed on Dejima island in Nagasaki, the only place foreign trade was allowed, marched to the Nagasaki magistrate's office to call for the opening of Japan.
