McHarg awarded Japan Prize
TOKYO, Japan - Ian McHarg (L), 79, a professor emeritus in landscape architecture and regional planning at the University of Pennsylvania, receives this year's Japan Prize in Tokyo on April 28 from the Tokyo-based Science and Technology Foundation of Japan. McHarg, who formulated his theories on ecological city planning in the 1960s, said ''unity with nature'' is essential in city planning.
