Japan Coast Guard launches emergency hot line
TOKYO, Japan - An official demonstrates use of the Japan Coast Guard's new emergency hot line, which was launched May 1 to enable the reporting of maritime accidents quickly and directly. The hot line's ''118'' is the nation's third emergency number, following ''119'' for fires, set up in 1927, and ''110'' for police, created in 1948.
