Olympic medal favorite Takahashi wins Sapporo half-marathon
SAPPORO, Japan - Olympic gold medal favorite Naoko Takahashi warms up for the Sydney Games with an impressive run on July 2 while coasting to victory in the Sapporo international half-marathon. Takahashi, the Japanese record holder in women's marathon, ran alone for much of the 21.0975-kilometer race and crossed the line at Maruyama stadium in 1 hour, 9 minutes, 10 seconds for a 43-second victory over runner-up Elana Meyer of South Africa.
