Russian, Ukrainian victims of Chernobyl visit Japan
NARITA, Japan - Three children arrive at Narita airport, east of Tokyo, on Aug. 7 as members of a group of 40 Russian and Ukrainian children aged 10 to 16 suffering from the effects of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident. Group members will go to Japan's northernmost main island of Hokkaido to undergo blood tests at Hokkaido University's School of Medicine until Aug. 22. The children were invited by the Japanese government.
