People offer silent prayer at A-bomb anniversary in Nagasaki
NAGASAKI, Japan - Victims and bereaved family members of those who died in the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing of Nagasaki offer a silent prayer at a ceremony marking the 55th anniversary of the bombing, at Nagasaki Peace Park on Aug. 9. Nagasaki estimates that 73,800 people died when the United States dropped the atomic bomb on the southwestern Japanese city in the closing days of World War II.
