Awa-odori dance festival begins in Tokushima

TOKUSHIMA, Japan - The Awa-odori dance festival starts in the city of Tokushima, Tokushima Prefecture, southwestern Japan, on Aug. 12. During the four days through Aug. 15, the city is gripped by Awa-odori fever. Photo shows women wearing ''yukata'' (cotton kimono for summer) and ''sugegasa'' (sedge hats) performing on the city's street.
