Mitsubishi Motors admits it hid recalls for 30 years

TOKYO, Japan - Katsuhiko Kawasoe (R), president of Mitsubishi Motors Corp., apologizes to Transport Minister Hajime Morita at the ministry in Tokyo on Aug. 22 for making recalls without reporting them to the ministry for more than 30 years. In a report submitted to the ministry, the company said it systematically covered up recalls and continued to repair defective vehicles without reporting the cases to the ministry.
