1,000 gather at NGO confab on nuclear arms ban in Nagasaki

NAGASAKI, Japan - About 1,000 people from nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) from 17 countries gather at a three-day conference in Nagasaki on Nov. 18 to discuss ways of abolishing nuclear arms in one of the largest antinuclear NGO events ever held in Japan. The Nagasaki Global Citizens' Assembly for the Elimination of Nuclear Weapons is being sponsored by the Nuclear Weapons Abolition Year 2000 Nagasaki Citizens' Council and the Nagasaki city-backed organizing committee.
