1 confirmed dead, 26 injured in train collision+

FUKUI, Japan - Two trains sit on a private railway in the town of Matsuoka, Fukui Prefecture, on Dec. 17, after a collision that killed a driver and injured 26 passengers. The collision occurred around 1:30 p.m. near Shiizakai Station on the main Echizen Line of Keifuku Electric Railroad Co. A train coming down a branch line failed to stop at Higashi-Furuichi Station and continued onto the mainline for about 1 kilometer, railway officials said.
