Kono, Powell agree to work closely on peace in Asia

WASHINGTON, U.S. - Japanese Foreign Minister Yohei Kono (L) and U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell shake hands in Washington on Jan. 26 before their first talks following the Jan. 20 inauguration of the George W. Bush administration. The pair reaffirmed the importance of deepening the Japan-U.S. alliance on diplomatic, security and economic fronts.
