Emperor, empress meet kin of Kobe quake victims
KOBE, Japan - Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko on April 23 in Kobe place a bunch of white chrysanthemums near a wooden box containing a list of the 6,420 dead and missing in the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake. The imperial couple, who visited Kobe to see how the city is recovering from the temblor, later met with about 30 people who lost family members in the earthquake.
