Live music venue to open next to Communist Party birthplace

SHANGHAI, China - Photo shows the building in Shanghai where China's Communist Party held its first convention in 1921. The first full-scale live music venue in China, Xintiandi Ark, will open on June 28 next to the birthplace of the party, a Tokyo-based equity participant says June 12.

The 11-story ''Maison Hermes,'' a glass-walled building designed by well-known Italian architect Renzo Piano, will open June 28. It is as large as the home office in Paris and its New York branch.
