Koizumi pledges to reform public sector to spur economy

ABOARD GOVERNMENT JET - Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi pledges June 29 to push ahead with reforms of the country's public sector to halt the ''wasteful'' use of taxpayers' money as part of his efforts to spur Japan's fragile economy. He made the remark aboard a government jet headed for Washington to hold his first summit talks with U.S. President George W. Bush at Camp David in Maryland.
