Kenyan man pardoned for politician's murder says he was framed

NAIROBI, Kenya - A 58-year-old Kenyan man recently freed from prison after serving 36 years of a life sentence for the murder of a prominent Kenyan politician on July 13 protested his innocence, saying the police tortured him into signing a false confession. Kisilu Kitundu, who was 23 years old when arrested, told Kyodo News in an interview he was framed for the February 1965 assassination of Kenyan nationalist Pio Gama Pinto, a Kenyan of Asian origin.
