Amnesty calls on Myanmar to release more political prisoners

BANGKOK, Thailand - Activists of Amnesty International Thailand hold up 400 signatures calling for human rights reform and the release of political prisoners in Myanmar in front of the Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok on July 15. They tried to hand a petition with the signatures to the embassy but the embassy refused to accept it.

            BANGKOK, Thailand - A group of Thai activists protest in front of the Japanese Embassy in Bangkok on Aug. 18, 2011, voicing dissatisfaction over the Japanese government's issuance of a visa to ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to visit Japan. In a statement, the protesters said they were deeply disappointed over the move since Thaksin is a fugitive from justice, having fled Thailand to avoid a jail term for a corruption conviction.
