Hitachi to spin off home appliance, industrial goods divisions

TOKYO, Japan - Hitachi Ltd. President Etsuhiko Shoyama speaks at a news conference in Tokyo on Sept. 27. He said Hitachi will spin off its home appliance and industrial equipment divisions into two new companies in April 2002 and integrate them with related group firms.
