Japanese driver Sato to compete in F1 series next season

TOKYO, Japan - Takuma Sato, Japan's newly crowned British Formula Three champion, announces plans to participate in the Formula One Grand Prix series next season at a press conference in Tokyo's Minato Ward on Oct. 10. Sato, who became the first Japanese to win the British F3 Championship when he posted the 12th win of the season at Silverstone last month, will drive for the Jordan-Honda team.

                Sato joins Formula One team BAR as test driver

                TOKYO, Japan - Japanese driver Takuma Sato (in photo taken in October 2002) has signed for Formula One racing team BAR as its third driver after being dropped by Jordan halfway through a two-year contract, motor racing officials said Dec. 18. Sato will be assigned the test driver role for BAR, who has former world champion Jacques Villeneuve and Jenson Button for its drivers for the 2003 season.
