Sapporo Snow Festival to feature historic Korean gate

SAPPORO, Japan - A miniature of South Korea's famous gate Kwanghwamun is shown at a hotel in Sapporo on Dec. 26. A 15-meter-high replica of the gate will be one of the top attractions at the 53rd Sapporo Snow Festival starting Feb. 5 to celebrate the coming of the 2002 World Cup soccer finals.

        World Cup commemorative stamps to be sold in Japan

        TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows postage stamps commemorating the 2002 World Cup finals, which will go on sale at post offices across Japan from May 31 to June 28. The government said April 20 that a total of 30 million stamps will be available for 90 yen apiece, which includes a 10 yen donation for the soccer event to be co-hosted by Japan and South Korea. The stamps, available in three designs, feature the official mascots of the World Cup.

Kim is shaping her own message to the world ahead of the 2002 World Cup soccer finals, to be jointly hosted by Japan and South Korea, by making 2,002 masks with the faces of living people from both countries.
