Koizumi decides to sack Tanaka, Nogami
TOKYO, Japan - Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi gives a news conference at his official residence in Tokyo in the early hours of Jan. 30 to announce his decision to dismiss Foreign Minister Makiko Tanaka and Vice Foreign Minister Yoshiji Nogami. The announcement followed their conflict over the Foreign Ministry's decision to bar two Japanese nongovernmental organizations from last week's Afghan aid conference in Tokyo.
