Unusually warm weather hits wide area of Japan

TOKYO, Japan - Unusually warm weather hit the Japanese archipelago on April 2, from Tohoku in the northeast to Kanto in the east, as a migratory anticyclone prevailed over the country. At Tokyo's Hibiya Park, two men take off their coat and eat an ice lollipop to make them feel cool.

The early summer-like weather was seen in all areas of Japan on the day with the exception of Hokkaido and the northern part of the Tohoku region, northeastern Japan.

                    TOKYO, Japan - Dogs run free in a special area at Komazawa Olympic Park in Tokyo's Meguro Ward on Dec. 2. It is one of two parks run by the Tokyo metropolitan government which opened special areas for dog-lovers where they can let their animals run free. In parks operated by the metropolitan government, dogs have to be kept on leashes.

Japanese woke up to the coldest morning so far this winter as a cold air mass blew in, dumping heavy snow on the northeast and Sea of Japan coast and disrupting rail, road and air traffic.
