Shipments of cell phones with cameras seen growing 3.8-fold

TOKYO, Japan - Domestic shipments of mobile phones with built-in cameras (in file photo) are expected to grow to about 23 million units by the end of the current business year in March 2003, 3.8 times those in the previous year, the Yano Research Institute said on July 12. The independent market research company said in a report that the popularity of such phones and so-called third-generation mobile phones capable of high-speed video transmission will help lift the overall market significantly.
